Misha B – Do You Think Of Me

Oh my. We were not expecting this at all. Misha B’s debut single Home Run made for a great bit of contemporary urban pop, and all things considered, it’s chart position of #11 was pretty respectable. It felt like the start of something, a spark of ingenuity, the first chapter in a solo career that’d seek to separate Misha from the way the X Factor had so distinctly under-served her during her time on the show.

But if you could put Home Run at about seven or so on a scale of ten, new single Do You Think Of Me would be a flat out one-hundred. It’s that good. The kind of dizzyingly enjoyable dance-pop cut that Kelly Rowland herself would be proud to call her own. It all sort of builds and builds on a cushion of dreamy piano notes before erupting into a cascade of surging bass. Credit has to be given to TMS, the production team behind the track – them of Emeli Sande, Wretch 32 and Professor Green fame. They’ve pulled a blinder with this one.

If Home Run was the warm-up, Do You Think Of Me is the full-pelt sprint. With seven million YouTube views, 245,000 Twitter follows, it’s clear Misha’s fanbase is there. And going by Do You Think Of Me, the material is in place too. With Amelia Lily looking set to nab a Number One this weekend, it’d be only right for Misha to do likewise.

Sounding both credible, and most importantly – like the kind of record you could have a heck of a good time to on a night out, Do You Think Of Me is that moment, that snapshot of brilliance that you dream of a popstar properly kicking their career off with. And with Misha serving as the support act to Nicki Minaj herself on her forthcoming arena tour, really, there’s no excuse for this to not do phenomenally well.

Released: 28th October.
